Herts Aid is a HIV and Sexual Health support charity. We offer a range of information and support services to anyone infected or affected by HIV/AIDS, in and around Hertfordshire, together with sexual health education and information services to schools, colleges and other organisations.

Herts Aid started life as the “East Herts Support Group”. The group was formed in 1991 to meet the needs of local people living with HIV and AIDS. Herts Aid itself was launched on World AIDS Day 1992.  The organisation was first based in cedar Cottage, on the Goldings Estate just outside Hertford, then in May 1997 we moved to Ware, and have been in our current offices in Ware Town Centre since 2003.  Herts Aid is a lively, growing organisation. We currently have six full time and two part time members of staff and together with our team of committed volunteers, we support people countywide.

Our services include: Outreach & Support, Complimentary Therapies, Support Groups, Hardship Grants & Referrals to other agencies for issues such as immigration, debt advice, benefits & housing.  Health promotion services include our Theatre in Education productions titled “It wont happen to me” and “Love, Lies and Lullabies”, plus a wide range of HIV/safer sex/STI prevention talks, which can be tailor made to suit the needs of the individual.

Herts Aid is a registered charity, and a company limited by guarantee.
Registered charity number 1130366, Company Number will be 6910096.

Sunday 6th June 2010

Last year, a team of 20 staff and supporters of Herts Aid were involved in Europe’s largest sponsored walk, to raise awareness and support for those affected by HIV and AIDS. We raised around £3000.00, making it our most successful year to date.

All funds raised from this event go directly into the Herts Aid Hardship Fund, which is only replenished by fundraising events such as this.

We want to make it bigger and better this year, raising more money and offering help and hope to even more people but we can only do this with your help.

Everybody’s welcome! It’s a sociable event so come with friends or meet people on the day, and there’ll be free entertainment at the main event village. And while the walk is only 10km, the difference made will go so much further – dramatically improving the lives of people affected by HIV and AIDS in the UK and internationally.
