Hertsaid Services

Support

Herts Aid offers information and help to anyone with questions about HIV and AIDS, as well as confidential support. A team of trained volunteers provide befriending, and other practical and emotional support.

Alternative and Complementary Therapies

Herts Aid is currently able to offer some complimentary therapies for our members. These can be booked via the Herts Aid office. Therapies take place on Herts Aid’s premises and are free of charge to people living with HIV and AIDS.

Drop-in

Herts Aid volunteers run a quarterly drop-in evening for anyone living with, or affected by, HIV and AIDS.

Outreach!

We offer an Outreach service to those who are unable to come to our premises in Ware, or who prefer to meet with us in their own home or wherever else they feel comfortable.

Quality of Life Club

Part of Herts Aid’s commitment to Positive Living, the Club’s monthly meetings are for people infected or affected by HIV to pool experiences, and exchange information and ideas about living positively with the virus. Often there are guest speakers, covering topics of particular interest for our members.

Sunday Lunch

Once a month our volunteers cook Sunday lunch and everyone is welcome.  The Sunday lunches are very popular and very well attended.

HIV/AIDS Awareness and Health Promotion

We provide safe sex and sexual health workshops for schools, colleges and other organisations, which we adapt to be appropriate for the relevant age group. We have entered AIDS Awareness floats in local carnivals and festivals.

Hospital and clinic appointments

Herts Aid can offer transport to and from clinic and hospital appointments, subject to availability. Priority is given where physical illness and frailty preclude the journey being made by other means.
